This week's student-athlete of the week is a true renaissance man. He's a standout on the football field, the basketball court, the lacrosse pitch, and most importantly, the classroom.

This week's honoree is Connor Cmiel.

The junior played a large role in the Saint Ignatius football team's victory over Euclid on Friday evening. Cmiel starred on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats.

Cmiel scored 12 of the Wildcats' 21 points on Friday. Cmiel hauled in two passes for 70 yards, both resulting in touchdown passes. The shifty wideout caught a 17-yard slant pass for a score in the second quarter and took a bubble screen pass 53 yards into the end zone in the third quarter. His touchdowns made a huge difference in the Wildcats' first win of the season.

On the other side of the ball, Cmiel saw some time at cornerback. Cmiel tallied a tackle, adding a feather to his cap on a great night. Overall on the season, Cmiel has a few tackles to go along with his 216 receiving yards.

Cmiel works hard in the classroom, as well. The junior has a 3.9 GPA while taking some challenging classes.

Cmiel and the Football Cats return to action on Friday in Columbus vs. COF Academy. In the meantime, congratulations, Connor!
