Runners and Parents,
A warm, sunny , humid morning greeted the teams at The Mentor Cardinal Invitational. Coach Bill Dennison and his army of volunteers did a fantastic job managing the race at the historic Garfield Park. The course was marked by tight turns, steep inclines, a wobbly plank bridge and cheering spectators lining the entire course.
In the varsity race, the cats' foursome of Matt Blouch, Andrew Biehl , Nick Saul and Logan Kijewski darted out with the lead pack. By the 2 mile, the blue and gold were firmly in the lead. Nick Saul led the final push to finish first in 16:23. He was followed closely by Matt Blouch, Andrew Biehl, Steve Zucca, Nathan Soria, Logan Kijewski, Connor McAndrew (letter winner), Peter Fitzpatrick (letter winner) and Nick Mulhern. The Cats cruised to the team victory with 26 pts.
By the start of the JV/Open race, it was hot!! The dew point was in the high 60's according to Jack Jusko, the team's resident meteorologist. Sixty five wildcats were packed in with 20 other teams at the start. At the 2 mile, a steady stream of blue singlets rolled out of the woods with Jack Mayer leading the team. Scoring for the cats victory were: Jack Mayer 2nd overall in 17:42 (letter winner), Matt Kelly 18:00(letter winner), Aiden Monroe, Elliot Rodstrom, Connor Geary, Ben Crane, Will Leahy, and Sean Freddy Becker.

This week's schedule:
Monday: Happy Labor Day!! There is no mandatory practice. There will be a captains' run held at Mastick (Biehl, Blouch, Saul, Mayer) and North Chagrin (Nathan Soria) at 9 am if you can make it.
Otherwise frosh and sophs should go 40 - 45 min and juniors and seniors should go 55 - 60 min on your own.
Tuesday: Shortened school day. Practice at Edgewater 1:45 to 3:15. Bus leaves school at 1:30 and returns at 3:15.
Runners should be picked up at school- not Edgewater.
Wednesday: No classes! Once again there will be a North Chagrin run and a Mastick run at 9 am. Try and make one of these practices.
If u are unable to make it due to transportation, freshman, please let coach Wolf know and all others, let me know- otherwise frosh and sophs should go 40 - 45 min and juniors and seniors should go 55 - 60 min on your own.
Thursday: Regular class schedule Cedar Point picnic area 3:30 - 5:30
Friday: SIHS pre comp 3:00 - 4:00.
Saturday: Walsh Invitational 4550 Wyoga Lake Rd. 11:35 JV race for Leahy, Sean Becker, Mulhern, Chesney, Kachmarik, Rochester, Maloney.
12:50: Open/frosh race . Bus leaves school at 9:45
Tiffin Invitational: Hedges Boyer Park. 3:35 Varsity B race ( Fitzpatrick, McAndrew, Kelly, Monroe, Rodstrom, Geary, Crane)
4:30 Varsity A race (Saul, Blouch, Biehl, Zucca, Soria, Kijewski, Mayer)
Van transportation will be available if needed for these races. Departure time, TBD
