The freshman is off to a phenomenal start.

Few freshmen golfers earn a spot on the Saint Ignatius JV Gold squad, and fewer still claim a spot on the varsity team.

Topher Reed is one of the elite few to make an impact from the very start of his Saint Ignatius career.

The freshman has wowed coaches and fans all season, compiling impressive scores that are rare for a young player. Without a doubt, Reed has a special set of skills.

As a result of his amazing early season scores, Reed is the Student-Athlete of the Week.

Last week, Reed participated in three tournaments. Reed won two of them. He tallied scores of 67 (-3), 68 (-2), and 72 (E) last week. A score of five under over the course of three tournaments is quite impressive.

Reed did so at significant courses, too. The frosh scored his 68 at Windmill Lakes in the University School Invitational and his 72 at Fowlers Mill in the Reece Alexander Invitational, hosted by Gilmour Academy.

Through nine 18-hole events this season, Reed has tallied average of 73.1.

"This is just an unbelievable start from a freshman," said Head Golf Coach Brian Becker '77.

Reed and the Golf Cats will have some time off before facing Walsh Jesuit on September 7. In the meantime, Reed and the rest of the freshman class will walk to the Mass of the Holy Spirit on Friday morning.

Congratulations to Topher on an incredible week of golf!
