A weekend in Columbus turned out to be a cold and rainy one for the Saint Ignatius varsity tennis team.

First, the Wildcats' match on Friday vs. New Albany was rained out. Then, the Tennis Cats played in very cold conditions on Saturday in the New Albany Invitational.

As Head Coach Bobbe Bennett, final team results are not yet available, but the Wildcats did well in individual and doubles play.

Arjun Brahmbhatt scored the best finish of the squad. The sophomore secured third place for the Wildcats, continuing his stellar season thus far.

Brian Zhu and Drew Barclay also turned in solid results in singles play. The two talented Tennis Cats each grabbed fifth place finishes.

In doubles play, Bennett paired Richie Hofstra & Nate Day, and Jack Showman and Thomas Deucher. Each duo performed admirably for the blue and gold. Hofstra and Day snagged sixth, while Showman and Deucher grabbed seventh place for the Wildcats.

Among tough competition and difficult weather, the Wildcats did well, as Coach Bennett attested.

Next up for the Tennis Cats is a match with Solon at Magnificat High School on Tuesday at 4 pm. The Wildcats will then face Massillon Jackson in the second round of the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association (OTCA) Tournament on Wednesday. That match will also take place in Rocky River at Magnificat at 4 pm. In the meantime, the 6-2 JV Cats will head to Lakewood to face the Rangers on Tuesday at 4:30 pm.
