An absolute heart-racer at Wasmer on Wednesday night fortunately ended with a final score of 15-8 in favor of the Saint Ignatius prep lacrosse team.

First off, the Lax Cats had a very hectic week with many games, but this game contained a lot of pressure. Before the Prep game, Varsity Blue played against Hudson’s Varsity B team, and so the Hudson team stayed and watched the Prep game, helping Hudson’s spirits.

In the first half, the Wildcats scored three goals, while Hudson scored one. Merick Hartley, Michael Boehm and Jack Moriarty tallied goals, keeping the hosts in the lead, but the game was still questionable on who would prevail.

The second quarter was a rather high scoring period with the Cats scoring six and Hudson notching three. Michael Boehm and Merick Hartley connected on their second tallies and Ian Flynn, Bain Kurtz, Chris Larsen, and Nathan Conry all scored once.

The score was with the Cats, but it was still unclear who was going to prevail due to each side of the game putting out great effort and skill. The half finished out with the Cats in the lead, 9-4.

The third quarter finished at 11-6, with each squad touching twine twice. The goals were scored by Jack Moriarty (his second) and Connor Cmiel.

The final period was rather explosive by the Wildcats. This period placed the game out of reach. The Lax Cats scored 4 goals against Hudson’s two. Merick Hartley scored his third, Nathan Conry scoring two in this half (three overall), and Jack Moriarty notchings his third as well.

Mincer’s MVPs: Junior Jack Moriarty and sophomore Merick Hartley, combining for six goals overall this game. Keep it up boys!
