Richie Hofstra and Jack McNally did a fine job in doubles play.

The trip to the court was a bit farther today, but the Tennis Cats still looked right at home on Tuesday afternoon.

The Saint Ignatius varsity tennis squad swept St. John's Jesuit in Toledo, 5-0, in an impressive effort by the Wildcats.

Arjun Brahmbhatt captured a 6-3, 6-3 win over the Titans' No. 1 singles player, senior Akhil Katragadda. Brian Zhu dueled fellow senior Dev Laungani in the No. 2 spot. In a spirited match, Zhu dropped the first set, 4-6, before rebounding with 6-1, 10-3 wins in sets two and three. Nate Day won the third and final singles bout, snagging a two-set win, 6-2, 6-4.

The Wildcats' doubles teams rolled right along, too. Richie Hofstra & Jack McNally snatched a win in two sets, 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 1 slot. Thomas Deucher & Jack Showman took care of business easily in the second spot 6-1, 6-1.

The Tennis Cats advanced to 2-0 with the victory – a great start to a young season. The squad returns to the court on Thursday, facing Uniontown Lake (weather-permitting) tomorrow at Magnificat High School at 4:30 pm.
