Ohio City - The 10-5 Wildcats, coming off a loss at Benedictine on Saturday night (see the corner's game story from Sunday morning), slipped from eighth to the 11th spot this week in cleveland.com's Top 25 area poll, which includes teams from seven counties.

The top three teams from last week, Solon, St. Edward and Cleveland Central Catholic remained intact.

St. Edward will host Saint Ignatius Friday night on Coach Jim Connors Court in The Eagles' Nest. The Eagles defeated the Wildcats by 12 points in the first matchup of the annual two-game rivalry series, which was played on January 20th in Father Sullivan Gymnasium.

As always, this corner will preview Friday's area headliner at St. Edward for a Wednesday morning post.

There could be some major shuffling in next week's poll, as the undefeated Solon Comets are at fourth-ranked Brunswick tonight (Monday) and then travel to fifth-ranked Stow on Tuesday night.

As we mentioned above, second-ranked St. Edward hosts the now 11th-ranked Wildcats on Friday in a series whose history has included more than a few surprises,  and the third-ranked Ironmen from Cleveland Central Catholic welcome the sixth-ranked Garfield Heights Bulldogs to the storied floor in the St. Stan's Social Center on Friday night. Bulldogs Head Coach Sonny Johnson, an Ohio Mr. Basketball award winner, is no stranger to the setting at Central Catholic. Coach Johnson began his high school playing career with the Ironmen before transferring to Garfield Heights.

Here is a look at cleveland.com's elite 11 heading into a big week in which the area's sectional/district seedings and pairings will be released by the OHSAA on Sunday. Saint Ignatius and St. Edward are again competing in the Strongsville sectional/district. This old gym rat will have a Sunday story on the seedings/pairings once they are released.

 1. Solon (15-0); 2. St. Edward (15-3); 3. Cleveland Central Catholic (15-2); 4. Brunswick (15-2) Blue Devils Coach Joe Mackey is doing another superb coaching job; 5. Stow (14-2); 6. Garfield Heights (9-5) Bulldogs were defeated by Saint Ignatius at Sullivan Gym on Jan. 26th, a game the 'Cats dominated; 7. Archbishop Hoban (14-2); 8. Benedictine (13-4) Bengals move up five spots; 9. Shaker Heights (10-6); 10. Brush (13-5) and 11. Saint Ignatius (10-5).

Have a great week and this corner will see you at St. Edward on Wednesday evening for the annual Freshmen Doubleheader rematch with the Eagles and of course on Friday in The Eagles' Nest for the Varsity rematch.
