Basketball Cats Now No. 9 in Cleveland.com Rankings

Ohio City - Coming off a 12-point setback to St. Edward in Father Sullivan Gymnasium on Saturday night, Saint Ignatius will gear up for another demanding weekend.

Coach Brian Becker's 'Cats will host fifth-ranked Garfield Heights on Friday night and on Saturday night the fourth-ranked Ironmen from Cleveland Central Catholic will pay a visit to Sullivan Gymnasium. This corner will preview both of those matchups later this week.

Here is how the top 10 teams stack up for this week, as the second half of the season is underway for most of the area's programs.

No. 1. The seven-county area's most consistent team, the 11-0 Solon Comets; 2. The Eagles from St. Edward (12-3); 3. The Shaker Heights Raiders (7-3); 4. Cleveland Central Catholic 's Ironmen (9-2); 5. The Garfield Heights Bulldogs (7-3); 6. Stow's Bulldogs (11-1); 7. The Brunswick Blue Devils (11-2); 8. The Arcs from Brush High School (10-3); 9. The Saint Ignatius Wildcats (8-3) and 10. The Fighting Irish from St. Vincent-St. Mary (8-6).

After this weekend, Saint Ignatius will have faced five of the current Top 10 area teams - Solon, St. Edward, Central Catholic, Garfield Heights and St. Vincent-St. Mary.
