The Football Cats are Voted as the 2017 Associated Press Division I State Poll Champions

Hall of Fame Head Coach Mr. Chuck Kyle' 69 has guided his Football Wildcats to their ninth Associated Press State Poll Championship. The 'Cats received an impressive 18 first-place votes.

 Saint Ignatius' first AP Poll title in football came in 1988, when the Wildcats won the first of their record 11 OHSAA State Championships.

The 'Cats were also AP Poll champions in 1989 (also OHSAA State Champions and USA Today National Champions); 1990; the State Championship years of 1992, 1993 (also National Champions) and 1995 (also National Champions); in 2000 and 2009.

 Before the OHSAA Harbin Playoff System began in 1972, the AP Poll Champion was also recognized as the State Champion.
