Runners and parents,

To most casual observers the weather leading up to the Regional meet at Boardman was not promising. Cool temperatures in the 40's, rain, sleet and showers were the order of the day.

With a 3 pm start for the last race of the meet, the course could easily be akin to a "tough mudder."  But hey, that's why they call it "cross country!"

The ground was  soft, slippery, and challenging: not a day for a PR.. Twenty eight teams were vying for 7 coveted team slots along with the top 28 individuals hoping to qualify for the state meet. The leaders went out hard at a 5:00 minute clip.

 By the 2 mile, the top 10 runners had separated from the peloton, with Hudson in the lead followed by Medina and the 'Cats. Brett Saunders made a decisive move with 400m to go and pulled his teammates along.  Typically, with chip scoring, the results are nearly instantaneous, but a computer snafu postponed the final results until 4:45.

 Hudson scored a decisive win with 51 points. Saint Ignatius was second with 144 points and Medina third with 146 points.  Who said every place does not matter???!!

Race Times: Brett Saunders 16:25 (All Region), Liam McGuire 16:26 (All Region), Matt Blouch 16:40, Andrew Biehl 16:42, Nick Saul 16:51, Nathan Soria 17:02, and Jack Mayer 17:41.

The final Junior Varsity race of the season was held at Walsh Jesuit on Monday. Top finishers in the freshmen /sophomores race were Elliott Rodstrom and Kartar Vig. The top finishers in the juniors/seniors race were Ben Crane, Andrew Chesney and Pat Krebs.

Tuesday: Mastick  3:30-5   

Wednesday: Cedar Pt . 3:30-5             

Thursday: Mastick 3:30-5

Friday: Meet in Athletic Office at 11:30 am

Saturday: National Trail Raceway (Hebron, Ohio) State Meet Race Time, 3 pm.

Sign up for the coach bus in the Athletic Office!! We need as many fans as possible at this meet! Support your teammates! Bus leaves 11 am. Parents are welcome on the bus. Look for more details regarding food, etc for the State Meet in a future email from the parents.
