The Wildcats took on the Eagles of St. Edward this past Wednesday in the district semifinal match. This was their second meeting of the season, which decided who would take on the eventual winner of the other semifinal, Lakewood.

The Soccer Cats got off to a quick start on a goal from junior Kory Nekoloff just three minutes into the game. St. Edward would find a way to even the game up about halfway through the first half on a breakaway goal by senior Patrick Gray.

The Cats fired back quickly just six minutes later on a wonderful goal tucked away in the bottom right corner by sophomore Kyle Folds. This was all the scoring from the first half, but the Cats thoroughly dominated the possession time and greatly outnumbered the Eagles in scoring chances.

The second half was scoreless for 10 minutes, until Folds struck again on his second goal of the night. Folds played a fantastic game, showcasing his fantastic shot numerous times.

Halfway through the second half, the ball squirted out to sophomore Matt McLaughlin, who found himself all only with the St. Edward keeper. McLaughlin chipped the ball with ease to make the score 4-1.

The Cats were not done scoring. The fifth and final goal of the night came out the boot of Nekoloff for his second of the night.

The Wildcats' soccer squad saw fantastic performances from the back line as well, which consisted of sophomores Ryan Notarianni and Nolan Bartolone and senior Alex Rohr.

The Cats advance to the district final game scheduled for this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School against the Lakewood Rangers.
