Runners and parents,

On Wednesday, the Junior Varsity squad ran in the Saint Joseph Academy invite at Mastic Woods. The 'Cats have logged hundreds of miles on these trails, so this could be considered our home course.

The sun was setting in the west just beyond the trees at race time. Finally, a race with cool temperatures. The boys wasted no time moving to the front. The lead changed hands between Mentor, Saint Ignatius and St, Edward  until the final mile.  Using his patented kick, Jack Mayer took control and scored his first win of his career in a  PR of 17:02.  Following were: Peter Fitzpatrick 17:17; Kartar Vig 17:30; Tommy Rochester 17:33; Connor Geary 17:41; Connor McAndrew 17:43; Elliot Rodstrom 17:45; Ben Crane 17:59 (Letter Winner). All the above times were PRs!

At the District race in Medina, the temperature was an unseasonal 76 degrees at race time.  The 'Cats went to the lead at the gun, jockeying for position with Medina and Brecksville.  When the harriers emerged from the south end of the course with 1200 meters to go, the Wildcats and Medina runners hit the turbo button and made for the finish.  When the score went up, Medina had edged Saint Ignatius by 10 pts, 37 to 47.

Liam led the team in 16:10. Brett 16:25, Biehl 16:40, Blouch 16:50, Nick, 16:57, Nathan 17:12 and Steven 17:30 followed to round out the scoring. Special thanks to Robbie Klanac for wearing the Cat suit at the meet!!

The team advances to the Regional  Meet at Boardman on Saturday. Race time is 3 pm. The OHSAA will be charging a $7.00 per person entry fee. There will be no parking charge.  We hope to see as many team members and fans as possible to support the boys. There is no bus to the Regional Meet.

Thanks again for all the work, especially Eileen Biehl, for making the Senior Brunch such a success! The food, decorations, and of course the awards from the Junior Class were all outstanding! If you weren't there, you missed not only a Great Mass from Fr. Paul, but a great event put on by the Junior Class.

A special thank you to EIleen Maier and Bill Trentel, who helped once again with the photos. Kudos to Eileen McGuire for also recognizing Janet Nolan for all her help, and getting in the final roast of the day to her son Liam!

There will be a fan coach bus going to the State Meet on Saturday 11/4. Sign up in the athletic office!.
