Saint Ignatius, which has clinched its Ohio-best 28th OHSAA playoff appearance, will take the No. 1 spot in the Joe Eitel Region 1 computer playoff football rankings into Saturday's 3 pm matchup with Cincinnati St. Xavier at Byers Field in Parma's Robert M. Boulton Stadium. The game will match the 2016 Division I State Champion Bombers and the 2016 Division I State Runner-Up Wildcats.
Under the OHSAA Harbin playoff format, the top eight teams in each of the state's regions at the end of the regular season, which is Saturday, October 28th, qualify for the Regional Quarterfinal Playoffs. The top four are awarded a home game in the Regional Quarterfinals.
St. Xavier, which is 8-0 and the top-ranked program by Eitel in Region 4, has already clinched a home game for the Regional Quarterfinals.
