Runners and parents,
Normally at this time of year I would be commenting on the beautiful fall colors we encountered on our way to Trumble County for the Legends' Meet. But it hardly looked or felt like the first week in October. Most of the leaves were still unchanged and the temperature was a summer-like 84 degrees.
The meet featured two Ohio running legends. Katy Radkewich from Beaumont HS, was an All American and record holder at numerous distances, including 16:58 at the state meet. Clayton Murphy from the University of Akron was an NCAA champ at 1500 meters and was the Bronze Medalist in the 800 meters at the 2016 Olympic Games.
The 'Cats' must have been inspired because the Varsity ran one of their best races of the season to take the team title over Mt Lebanon from Pittsburgh and 30 other teams!! The challenging course takes runners twice around the fairgrounds allowing fans to line the course with cheers and support for the runners.
Liam McGuire led the team with a 16:16 and a 7th place finish! Following in order were: Andrew Biehl 16:22 PR, Brett Saunders 16:34, Nick Saul 16:41, Matt Blouch 17:03, Steve Zucca 17:08 and Nathan Soria 17:12.
The Varsity B/C squads were led by Jack Mayer 17;35, Logan Kijewski 17: 52, Nick Mulhern, Charlie Rooney, Elliot Rodstrom, Andrew Ulrich, Liam Reilly, Connor Geary, Connor McAndrew, Andrew Ulrich, Peter Fitzpatrick, Will Deucher, Kartar Vig and Holden Fisher.
The JV squad placed third behind Mt Lebonan and St Edward. Team leaders were: GT Moy, Joe Maloney, Tim Williamson 19:09 PR!, Sean Ward, August Slawienski, Tom Kilbane and Luke Chesney.

Tuesday - JV/Open/Frosh, 3-4 SIHS pre comp. Varsity at Mastic
Wednesday - SJA Invite at Mastic, 5:30. Bus leaves school at 3:45 and returns immediately after race.
Varsity - Edgewater, 3:30-5:00
Thursday - JV/Frosh off. Varsity at Cedar Pt. 3:30-5:00
Friday - SIHS 3:00-4:00
Saturday - OHSAA District Championship Race at Medina Elementary, 1:30. Details to follow.
