The Wildcats are very close to advancing upwards.

A strong showing at the Strongsville Invitational has the Wildcats trending up in the region.

The Saint Ignatius cross country team received a No. 6 ranking in the Week 5 Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches poll. The Wildcats did not move up any spots, but garnered more points in this week's poll.

The Wildcats received 183 points in this week's poll, an uptick from 173 last week. The men of Dr. Michael Gallagher '71 sit just one point behind No. 5 Medina.

The Wildcats ran hard at the Strongsville Invitational last weekend, nabbing a second place finish. The team has not finished lower than fourth in its five meets thus far this season.

Hudson, the winner of the Strongsville Meet, occupies the No. 1 spot with 235 points and 7 first-place votes. St. Xavier is nipping at the Explorers' heels with 233 points and 5 first-place votes. Hilliard Davidson and Mason are tied for the No. 3 spot with 188 points.  Other local programs in the Top 20 include St. Edward (No. 16), Strongsville (No. 19), and Mentor (No. 20).

The Varsity Cross Country Cats are off this weekend, though the team's JV and freshmen units will race at the Gilmour Invitational on Friday.
