Runners and Parents,

The 'Cats travelled south to the Fleet Feet Strongsville High School Invitational this past weekend.  The heat index was well into the 80's by the time the varsity settled in for the 10:30start. The race strategy was going to be Darwinian: survival of the fittest!  The well-manicured course headed out over the practice football field, through a goalpost and east to the soccer fields. The top runners hit the first mile under 5 min in a tight pack.   The 'Cats, in their white singlets with navy and gold trim were fighting for position in the mix.  At 2 miles, the heat was winning as the pace slowed and the lead changed hands.  The runners hit the final turn for a sprint finish on the track.  Liam McGuire led the Blue and Gold in 8th place in 16:15.  "Mr Rock Steady"  senior Brett Saunders followed in 16:25. Nick Saul 16:33, Andrew Biehl 16:35, Nathan Soria 16:46 (PR) Matt Blouch 17:06, Steve Zucca 17:11, Logan Kijewski 17:20 and Nick Mulhern 17:21 all  scored for the Wildcats.   In spite of a valiant effort, Hudson  scored  59 to 94 for the victory.

The JV/Open race was delayed until 11:45.  By then it was hot enough to bake a cake at the starting line.  At the gun, Off they went on the two loop course.   Charlie Rooney worked his way through 443 runners to lead the 'Cats with an 8th place finish in 17:53.  Close on his heels were Liam Rielly (Letter Winner) 17:56 PR,  Andrew Eicher 17:58, freshman Connor Geary (LETTER winner) 17:58 PR, Jack Mayer 18:07, Owen Lammermeier 18:18, Joe Ripepi 18:21, Andrew Ulrich 18:30 and Tommy Rochester 18:30 PR. Once again Hudson took the team title 19 to 59 over the Wildcats.

Thanks to all the parents, siblings, students and fans who braved the heat to support the team.

Thurs:  Varsity B/JV/Freshmen SIHS 3:00 - 4:00 pre comp. Varsity A Cedar Point picnic area 3:305:15

Fri: Gilmour Invite (34001 Cedar Rd) **Varsity B 4:30   JV/open/frosh 6 pm. Bus transportation provided. Bus leaves school at 3:15 and will return immediately after the 6 pm race

**Varsity A  and B squads will be announced on Monday at practice

Sat: Run on your own 35-45 minutes.

Schedule update: There will be no team race on 10/14. We will run a JV/Freshman/Open meet at Mastic on 10/18. If we have enough interest we will also run the Walsh Jesuit Tomahawk Invitational on 10/23. Details on both meets to follow.
