A two-week stretch between matches due to poor weather and a difficult course conspired against the Wildcats today.

The Saint Ignatius varsity golf team participated in the Kiely Cup on Sunday, a two-day prestigious invitational featuring some of the best teams in the area.

The Wildcats experienced some difficulty today at Canterbury Golf Course, finishing with a team score of 335. The squad had a tough time with Canterbury's greens today, as the team had not played the course heading into Sunday.

The team score sets the Wildcats at seventh, but the team is within striking distance of the top three. University School (307), St. Xavier (310), and Boardman (316) occupy the top of the leaderboard, with Centerville (317), Green (320), Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin (321), and University School (330) just above the Wildcats.

Michael McCaffrey and Ross Williamson led the Golf Cats with tallies of 81 on the day. Andrew Kaye followed closely with an 83, and Jake Moraca and Connor Warns penciling in scores of 90.

Head Coach Brian Becker '77 expects the Wildcats to rebound on Monday, saying that day two will be better for the Golf Cats.

Stay tuned for results from Canterbury tomorrow.
