The soccer and football squads will play at home on Saturday.

With the weather turning colder, it's safe to say that fall is here to stay in Northeast Ohio.

As such, the excitement is building over what promises to be a fulfilling season for the Wildcats' four teams of fall.

This weekend promises to bring plenty of action for the Wildcats, as all four varsity squads and several JV and freshmen teams will compete.

Here's what to expect this weekend:

Football

Varsity Football vs. Euclid, Byers Field, Saturday at 7 pm
JV Football vs. Euclid, Sparky DiBiasio Stadium, Monday at 5:30 pm
Freshmen Football vs. Euclid, Wasmer Field, Friday at 6 pm

Soccer

The Wildcats recorded another win at home on Wednesday, extending the team's mark to 5-1 overall, 2-0 at home. The Soccer Cats will have an opportunity to improve both records on Saturday.

The highly regarded Comets of Mason, Ohio will make the trip north from the Cincinnati area to face the Wildcats on Saturday at Wasmer Field at 2 pm.

Two years ago, the Wildcats tied the Comets, though the teams did not play in 2016. This season, the Soccer Cats will hope to use a quickly improving offense to down the Comets.

Henry Curtis, Luke Griffiths, and Everett Shorey are quickly becoming dangerous threats on the Wildcats' offense. The team's midfielders and defenders have also thrived as of late, keeping the ball away from the Saint Ignatius net. When tested, keepers Ryan Mark and Peter Van Euwen have performed admirably.

If you can't attend the contest, catch it on the SIBN with Brad Anderson, Bain Kurtz, and Jack O'Rourke.

Cross Country

The men of Doc Gallagher '71 will split up this weekend after a productive second place finish in Mentor last weekend.

The varsity squad will travel down to Hedges Boyer Park for the prestigious Tiffin Carnival Race. Last season, the Cross Country Cats captured a third place finish. Liam McGuire, who has enjoyed a phenomenal season to date, will look to continue his excellent run this year.

Meanwhile, the JV and freshmen will have a shorter trip to the East Side. The young Cats will participate in the University School Invitational, hosted at US. The Wildcats did not participate in the race this weekend last season, instead winning the Walsh Jesuit Invitational.

Golf

The Wildcats, led by head coach Brian Becker, have received an invitation to take part in the prestigious Kiely Cup.

Held at Canterbury Golf Course, the Kiely Cup features some of the best teams and golfers from across Northeast Ohio. The Wildcats will look to crash the party with style, anchored by team leaders Jake Moraca and Michael McCaffrey.

The two veterans lead a promising team hoping to hit the upcoming home stretch with momentum and confidence. A dynamic performance at the Kiely Cup could certainly help.

Good luck to all Wildcats teams in competition this weekend!
