Holdsworth made the decision after a big sophomore season.

Ohio City - Michael Holdsworth, one of the top young high school baseball prospects in Ohio and among the best in the Midwest, has started off his junior year at Saint Ignatius with one of the biggest decisions in his life.

Wildcats outstanding Head Baseball Coach/Assistant Athletic Director Brad Ganor shared with this corner on Wednesday night that Michael, a shortstop who can also handle second base, third base, and probably anywhere else you need him, has committed to play baseball at the University of Nebraska.

"Obviously, this is a big honor for him," said Coach Ganor. "Michael saw significant playing time as a sophomore and factors to be a key piece for the next 2 years."

Coach Ganor added that Michael also considered Ohio University, Wright State and Eastern Michigan "just to name a few."

Michael, who is also an outstanding student, chose a Cornhuskers baseball program that won its first Big Ten Regular Season Championship this past season before being "upset" by Holy Cross in the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals.

Congratulations to Michael, his family, Coach Ganor and the entire Saint Ignatius Baseball Program.
