The Saint Ignatius lacrosse squad has faced plenty of adversity this season, making the team's 9-7 mark impressive and noteworthy, especially with a young squad.

So it's not a surprise the Wildcats are well-represented on the All-Midwest team.

The Lax Cats landed eight on the All-Midwest squad. Anthony Ameo and Sean Keller earned first team honors. Michael Boehm, Brent Chernosky, and Carter Blossey all garnered second team recognition. Chris Larsen, Aaron Casile, and Grant Geary wrapped up the Wildcats' honors with honorable mention selections.

The eight performed well for the Wildcats at the Midwest Scholastic Lacrosse Coaches Association (MSLCA) Tournament over the weekend. The Wildcats fell to a talented Western Reserve Academy squad but rebounded in a big way with a win over Mount Lebanon.

These eight student-athletes will be critical for the Lax Cats in the playoffs. Ameo's faceoff ability will be important for establishing possession, Boehm's stick skills and goal scoring ability is off the charts, Chernosky offers a toughness and persistence on offense, Keller is stout on defense, and Blossey is a stone wall in net.

The Lax Cats' journey in the first-ever OHSAA Tournament begins tomorrow at Wasmer Field. The Wildcats will host Cleveland Heights in the regional qualifying match for the right to advance to the next round.

The talented Wildcats will look to make a deep run in the postseason following last season's runner-up feat. Based on the early returns, the Lax Cats have the talent and the wherewithal to scare some teams in the postseason.

Congrats again to the eight Lax Cats, and best of luck to the Wildcats in the postseason.
