There was no better way to celebrate the Saint Ignatius swimming team's successful senior class on Thursday evening.

The Wildcats swam to a sizable victory against the Blue Devils of Brunswick on Thursday at Cleveland State University on a special Senior Night.

Special congrats to seniors Joshua Lontoc, Joey Libertin, Dimitri Simcox, John Hessler, Severyn Kushmeliuk, Marcus Hong, and Charlie Siford for their years of hard work and dedication for the Saint Ignatius swimming and diving team.

The Aqua Cats then kept the success rolling at the Blazer Invitational at CSU.

The Cats took second at the Blazer Invitational on Saturday, finishing above three schools including Canisius (Buffalo, NY), but the Wildcats could not overcome the University School Preppers.

The Cats were led by strong performances in the pool by several young swimmers. Junior Can O’Haimhirgin swam the 100 breastroke in 1:03.86 and freshman Cameron Marcie swam a 52 flat in the 100 freestyle.

On the diving side, sophomore Alex Claus earned a first place finish among six divers with a score of 465.05, while freshman Kian Carmichael posted a fifth place with a score of 257.95.

The Cats return to the pool on February 11 for Sectionals at Cleveland State.
