Coming off of an emphatic 59-26 win Friday night in Sullivan Gym, the Wildcats took their 7-1 record out to Hunting Valley for a match up with the Preppers from University School on Saturday evening.

The Wildcats were on a four game winning streak going into the game, including wins over some of the top programs in the state, such as Warren Harding and Saint Vincent-Saint Mary.

The 'Cats got off to a hot start in the first quarter, ending it on a 12-0 run, which included five points from Jake Reali and four points from Pat Russell, giving Saint Ignatius a 17-4 lead.

The Preppers would not back down, and after trailing by as many as 15 points in the second quarter, the hosts finished the half on a 7-0 run of their own to cut the deficit to just eight going into the half.

The 28-20 score at halftime was a result of poor shooting by both teams, rather than lockdown defense. Saint Ignatius was shooting 37% from the field, while the Preppers shot only 27% from the field.

University School's O'Mahn Dobbins led all scorers at the half with 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting, while Pat Russell totaled nine points in the first half for the Wildcats, and did so efficiently, shooting 4-of-5 from the field.

The Wildcats started the second half on an 8-0 run within two minutes to double their lead, but quickly cooled off, and went into the fourth quarter with a comfortable 15-point lead.

Neither team shot the ball well in the fourth quarter, as the teams scored only a combined 10 points in the fourth quarter, which left the Wildcats victorious with a 44-31 victory.

It certainty was not the best shooting performance from the Wildcats, as they shot just 32% in the contest, but may have found their sixth man in the process, as Pat Russell chipped in with 14 points off the bench.

The next game for the Wildcats will be their biggest test of the season, as they will put their 5-game winning streak on the line in a home matchup against the Saint Edward Eagles on Friday January 13th.  JV tipoff will be at 5:30 p.m., and varsity action will begin at 7:00.
