Leaders find a way to get the job done in the clutch.
Connor Koehnke has thrived under pressure this season, making him a worthwhile choice for Student-Athlete of the Week.
Koehnke scored a pair of game-winning goals this weekend, leading the Wildcats to wins over Walsh Jesuit and St. Edward.
The senior forward broke a scoreless tie on Friday with 2:01 remaining, leading the way for a 3-0 Wildcats win over the Warriors. Koehnke topped his impressive tally with two more on Saturday.
With under a minute left in the third period, the Wildcats trailed the Eagles, 2-1. The Ice Cats emptied the net, bringing on an extra attacker. Working against a tough St. Ed's defense, Koehnke found an opening and rocketed a shot into the back of the net to tie the game with 42 seconds left.
Koehnke then finished off the opponents in overtime, roofing a wrister into the top corner of the net with 1:20 remaining in overtime. The goal marked his third in two days.
The captain also works hard outside of the classroom, maintaining high grades and serving as a leader for his teammates.
Congratulations to Connor, his family, and the Ice Cats!
