Varsity Mat Cats Take 2nd in Solon Tournament; JV Cats Compete in Mentor

Following a successful 2015-16 campaign, the Saint Ignatius wrestling team began its 2016-17 season over the weekend.

Led by head coach Mark Sullivan and his excellent coaching staff, the Mat Cats started off the season on the east side of the Cuyahoga with a solid showing.

Here is the weekend recap, from assistant coach Art Thomas: 

Congratulations to the Varsity Wrestling team who took second place in the season-opening Solon wrestling tournament. Placing wrestlers include Kaden Russell 1st; Matt Whipkey, Patrick McGraw and Quade Rasmussen 2nd, Matt French 3rd, Zach Tomford and Logan Toth 6th; Tommy Gallagher 7th, and Johnny Novak 8th. 

Congratulations also to the JV Wrestlers who competed in the Mentor JV Tournament. The team won all of their dual meets against Madison, Kenston, Willoughby, Strongsville and Geneva. Several JV Wrestlers are undefeated.
