Coach Pat O'Rourke's varsity hockey team skated and shot its way past Brecksville-Broadview Heights, 10-0, on Wednesday night in the first round of the Thornton Park Tournament.

Coming off a 4-1 victory over rival St. Edward, the Wildcats (9-3) took the sting out of the Bees early.

Saint Ignatius was led by senior forward and co-captain Kevin Joseph, who tied a single-game school record by tallying five assists. Junior captain Paddy Spellacy came up with three lamp lighters and the 'Cats got two-goal efforts from junior Mike Abood and sophomore Miles McQuinn. Junior goalie Matt Kovesdy turned away seven shots.

Kevin's five assists tied the mark set by Liam Geither '12 and Michael Wells '10 last season.
