Congratulations go out from the corner to Saint Ignatius' deep and skilled varsity lacrosse team, which on Saturday afternoon dominated Green, 16-3, in the OHSLA playoff round of 32.

The Wildcats (10-3) treated their faithful at Wasmer Field to an outstanding all-around performance, especially defensively, as they rolled to a 13-1 lead by halftime. Under the OHSLA goals-advantage rule, the second half was played with a running clock.

Saint Ignatius, which controlled the faceoffs, scored seven of its goals in a four-minute span.

In advancing to the state-playoff round of 16, the Wildcats will travel to Massillon Jackson on Wednesday for a 7:30 matchup with the Polar Bears. Saint Ignatius will be looking to avenge a 10-5 regular season setback to Jackson, a game that was played at Wasmer Field on April 4. Jackson advanced from the round of 32 by overwhelming Brecksville-Broadview Heights, 17-2.

The other half of the Saint Ignatius vs. Jackson bracket has St. Edward traveling to Hudson on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. encounter with the Explorers. St. Edward moved on by outlasting Solon, 14-13, in Saturday's round of 32. Wednesday's winners will advance to Saturday's State-Quarterfinal Round at a time to be announced. The winner of the Saint Ignatius-Jackson game will be the home team on Saturday.

Green closed its season at 13-6.
