For those alums around the country who inquired about Saint Ignatius' Week 8 football opponent - St. Francis (Athol Springs, N.Y.) - let me just say that the Red Raiders are going through a major rebuilding process this fall.

The same program that led the visiting Wildcats, 14-0, at halftime and took Saint Ignatius into overtime before losing to the 'Cats, 21-20, in Athol Springs last season, stands 0-5 heading into Saturday afternoon's game at St. Mary's (Lancaster, N.Y.). Last year's Saint Ignatius-St. Francis game was played in gale-force winds and rain that poured down in every direction of Athol Springs.

Getting back to the 2012 Red Raiders, their most recent losses came to Buffalo Canisius, 51-18, and to Erie (Pa.) Cathedral Prep, 69-0.

The Wildcats will host the Red Raiders next Saturday night (Oct. 13) at 7 on Byers Field.
