Although the corner was able to report on the cross country team's impressive performance at The Legends Meet just in time to make Fr. Jack Murphy's weekly pregame Mass for the varsity football team (see post below from Saturday afternoon), the weekend wouldn't be complete without Coach Mike Gallagher's much-appreciated outlook on the race. And here it is!

With the trees resplendent in shades of red, gold and orange, the trip out to the Trumbull County Fairgrounds was amazingly picturesque. Unfortunately, the course had received so much rain in the previous 24 hours that the ground was the consistency of a damp sponge.

In spite of the mud, the Wildcats took first place as a team with Jack Miller leading the way in 16:47. Luke Wagner 16:49, Joe Arquillo 16;55, Vince Bartram 17:09, Dylan Lynch 17:17, Elliot Thorkelson 17:18 and Tim Trentel 17:24 rounded out the top seven.

The Varsity B squad had a fifth-place finish. Showing the way were Jack Fitzgerald 17:25, Jack Politowicz 17:37, Jim Rogers 17:45, Tom Sullivan 18:02, Jeff Foerg 18:12, David Meler 18:15 and Jake Maier 18:26. In spite of the conditions, two runners managed PRs: Brennan Leitch 18:09 and Matt Galla 20:18.

*Friday will be Senior Night for the Wildcats' Harriers. There will be a 5:30 Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Chapel and dinner will follow in the Rade Dining Hall.

*Next up for the Wildcats is Saturday's Ohio Independent Schools Cross Country Championships in Massillon's Community Park (2200 Finefrock Road SW in Massillon). The Boys' Championship Race is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Everyone will run in the same race.
