The Saint Ignatius Wildcats remained No. 1 in The Plain Dealer's Top 25 seven-county poll, which was released a few minutes ago. St. Edward, which like the Wildcats sports an 8-0 record, remains in the second spot. Saint Ignatius and St. Edward will be meeting for the 50th time when they clash on Oct. 27 in Byers Field. It will be a 7 p.m. kickoff.

First things first, however, for the Wildcats as Coach Chuck Kyle's team travels to the Queen City on Saturday to take on Jesuit rival St. Xavier at 2 p.m. The corner will preview the 'Cats-Bombers game on Tuesday night.

*And just in a few minutes ago, a state panel of sports writers and broadcasters has voted Saint Ignatius and St. Edward 1-2, respectively, in the Associated Press Division I state poll. The restaurants and watering holes in Parma will have to hire extra help or pay overtime on Oct. 27. What a tailgate that will be, IF both teams come in undefeated. Saint Ignatius might have to call on the expertise of Axel Hoyer to handle a hungry crowd like that.
