Saturday's Division I, Region 1 semifinal football game between the Saint Ignatius Wildcats (10-1) and the North Royalton Bears (10-1) will be played at Lakewood Stadium. The kickoff will be 7 p.m.

The game will match the region's second (Saint Ignatius) and sixth seeds. The 'Cats are coming off their emotional 35-26 regional quarterfinal victory over Austintown Fitch (see the corner's story below) and the Bears, led by their magical quarterback Travis Tarnowski and a strong second-half effort on defense against Willoughby South's All-Ohio tailback Kareem Hunt, posted their first post-season victory by handing the Rebels their first loss of the season, 38-35, in a regional quarterfinal at South on Saturday night.

As always, the corner will preview the Bears-Wildcats matchup on Tuesday night. The game will mark the first football encounter between the Bears and the Wildcats on the varsity level and will match two of the classiest coaches in the state - our Chuck Kyle '69 and his 300 career victories and the Bears' Nick Ciulli, who this corner had the privilege to cover as a player at Padua Franciscan High School and as a coach at Valley Forge, where he guided the Patriots to their only OHSAA playoff appearance in 2002.

There is nothing like being back in the "Madhouse on Madison," a.k.a. Lakewood Stadium. Yes, our old home away from home.
