Congratulations go out from the corner to former Saint Ignatius standout quarterback Tom Arth '99, who has been promoted to the position of head football coach at his other alma mater - John Carroll University.

Tom, who helped lead Saint Ignatius to a Division I state-semifinal appearance in the fall of 1998, was a record-setting, four-year starting quarterback for the John Carroll Blue Streaks. He was named to the Division3football.com All-Decade Team for the 2000s and played in the NFL as a backup to perennial All-Pro and future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, when Manning was playing for the Indianapolis Colts.

After his professional career, Tom returned to John Carroll as an assistant coach and for the past three seasons he served as the co-offensive coordinator for former Blue Streaks head coach Regis Scafe. Throughout the summer months, Tom has worked various quarterback camps in the area, including those at Saint Ignatius.

As someone who had the privilege and pleasure to cover and report on Tom during his career at Saint Ignatius, let me just say congratulations to him, his family and the Saint Ignatius and John Carroll communities.
