Coming off a strong performance at the Strongsville Triangular, the Saint Ignatius varsity wrestling team was defeated by state and national power St. Edward, 56-10, in Sullivan Gymnasium on Friday night.

However, the Wildcats walked away with victories by veterans Tommy Zeigler (126), Dan Lynch (145) and Anthony McLaughlin (170), including a major decision by Zeigler.

Up next for Coach Mark Sullivan's team is a match at Toledo Central Catholic on the afternoon of Dec. 22 and the tradition-rich Brecksville Holiday Tournament on Dec. 28 and 29.

We will be heading to a special pre-game Mass today with the junior varsity and varsity basketball teams, will provide hoops game coverage versus Shaw and will have recaps on the 'Cats' hockey game versus Shaker Heights and the swimming and diving team's performance at the Viking Invitational as part of tonight's report. And of course, head bowling coach John Kastanis will provide his analysis on the Alley Cats versus the Ironmen of Cleveland Central Catholic either tonight or on Sunday.

*Kudos from the corner to the Wildcats' student body for the great support at the hockey game versus St. Edward on Friday night (see the corner's game story below) and let's see another strong turnout tonight in Sullivan Gym for the basketball games.

Have a great weekend everyone.
