Saint Ignatius 6-foot-7 senior post Alec Papesch, turning to his four key aspects, told the corner on Thursday morning that he will be furthering his education and basketball career at New York University.

Alec, who garnered All-Northeast Lakes District honors last season after averaging nearly 13 points, pulling down 165 rebounds and leading the Wildcats in drawn charges with 14, will be entering the College of Arts and Science at New York University.

"I broke my decision down to four catergories, education, social, basketball and the comfort level," said Alec of the things that impressed him most about New York University. "I just love the urban setting, it is very similar to the campus at Saint Ignatius. I am about a 10-to-15 minute walk to Times Square and you can look out and see Wall Street from the Library at New York University. I felt the same comfort level when I walked on the campus, as I did at Saint Ignatius."

Alec also emphasized how impressed he was with the camaraderie and family atmosphere that exists in the basketball program at New York University, again another similarity to Coach Sean O'Toole's program at Saint Ignatius, and that New York University was a 10 out of 10 in terms of grading a recruiting list.

A young man who this corner has had the Privilege to cover and report on for Saint Ignatius, let me just say that New York University is getting not only a gifted student athlete, but a first-class human being.

My sincere congratulations go out to Alec, his devoted family, Coach O'Toole and the entire Saint Ignatius basketball program.
