Saint Ignatius head hockey coach Pat O'Rourke '90 has reported that the Ice Cats defeated Loyola Academy from Chicago, 2-1, this afternoon in the prestigious Purple Puck Tournament at the Fort Dupont Ice Arena in Washington D C.

Saint Ignatius' outstanding senior forward and captain Miles McQuinn scored the game-winning goal and sophomore forward Ethan Whitney tallied the other lamp lighter for the 'Cats.

Senior Mike Mulach was brilliant in goal and the defense for Saint Ignatius was rock solid, as the Ice Cats outshot Loyola, 46-11.

The victory vaults the 'Cats (11-4-3) into Monday morning's semifinals against an opponent to be determined.

Happy New Year from the corner to the Ice Cats and to all of the Saint Ignatius families who made the Holiday trip to Washington.
