Ice Cats to face St. Joe's Prep in the semifinals

Following its 2-1 victory over Loyola Academy (Chicago) on Sunday afternoon (see the corner's recap below), Saint Ignatius' varsity hockey team was informed that it will face St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia, Pa.) in Monday's semifinals of the tradition-rich Purple Puck Tournament in Washington D C.

The face off from the Fort Dupont Ice Arena will be 9 a.m.

Monday's other semifinal matches Gonzaga against Loyola Academy at 11 a.m., and the championship game is scheduled for 3 p.m.

Here are the standings heading into Monday's semifinals.

*Teams earn 2 points by outscoring an opponent in a half (each game consists of two 25-minute halfs) or 1 point for tying a half and 2 points for winning a game (1 point for a tie).

**Gonzaga did not earn any points in its win against Saint Ignatius on Saturday because it was considered a fourth game and only three count in the standings.

***Canisius withdrew from the tournament after round-robin play.
