Saint Ignatius senior Ty Sanda, one of the most celebrated players in the rich history of the Wildcats’ nationally acclaimed soccer program, has tweeted that he will be furthering his education and soccer career at the University of Akron.

A gifted midfielder, Ty garnered All-American recognition this past fall, was a first-team All-Ohio selection, Ohio’s co-Player of the Year in Division I and was chosen as Mr. Soccer for 2012 by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches
Association.

Ty also garnered Academic All-Ohio honors, was first-team All-Greater Cleveland and the Greater Cleveland Player of the Year. He joined Wildcats All-American defender and Most Valuable Player Jake Roth on The Plain Dealer’s seven-county All-Star Team.

The obvious pick as Saint Ignatius’ Most Valuable Midfielder, Ty totaled career marks of 29 goals and 19 assists.

Congratulations from the corner go out to Ty and his family.
