On the strength of a 2-0 victory over Upper St. Clair (Pa.) in Sunday's semifinals, the Saint Ignatius Wildcats varsity hockey team will face longtime rival St. Edward in the championship game of the 17th annual Meadville Bulldog Hockey Invitational. The puck will drop in the DeArment Ice Arena at 3 p.m.

Coach Pat O'Rourke's Ice Cats will enter the title game with a record of 20-4-3. Saint Ignatius has now won 10 consecutive games. The Ice Cats are seeking their fourth consecutive Meadville championship and their seventh overall. Saint Ignatius is 1-0 against St. Edward this season.

As for the victory over St. Clair, it was senior captain Miles McQuinn and senior goalie Bernie Cook showing the way.

After serving a penalty, Miles collected the puck at center ice and skated with authority to the net, where he scored unassisted.

The Ice Cats tallied off a power play in the second period with McQuinn taking a shot from the half
board, which had eyes and found its way to the back of the net.

Led by Cook, Saint Ignatius' defense was outstanding from start to finish. Berine turned away 26 shots en route to the shutout.
