Coach Pat O'Rourke's team rallies from a 2-0, second-period deficit!

In defeating the Eagles for the second time this season, Saint Ignatius wrapped up its fourth consecutive championship in what was the 17th annual Meadville Bulldog Hockey Invitational at the DeArment Ice Arena. It was the seventh Meadville title overall for the Ice Cats.

Saint Ignatius, which improved to 21-4-3 and extended its winning streak to 11 games, also turned back St. Edward, 3-1, in Serpentini Arena at Winterhurst on December 14th.

Sunday's title match up between the Wildcats and the Eagles was another memorable chapter in their storied rivalry.

The Eagles jumped on the Ice Cats for a first-period goal and Coach Troy Gray's team made it 2-0 in the second period.

Junior forward Beck Schultz got the four-unanswered-goals rally started with the first of his two goals off an assist from senior captain Miles McQuinn.

Another junior, defenseman Harry Smith, delivered a shot that hit the roof of the goal and the score was knotted at 2. McQuinn also assisted on Harry's goal.

McQuinn, one of the premier athletes to ever wear the Blue and Gold, went to work off a power play and sent a cannon from just inside the blue line that hit the back of the net before the Eagles' goalie realized
what happened. Smith returned the favor with an assist on the go-ahead lamp lighter by McQuinn.

Schultz sealed the deal by picking up his second goal late in the third period.

Senior goalie Mike Mulach recovered from St. Edward's quick-start attack and shut the door at crunch time. Mike stopped a breakaway by an Eagle player who had beat him in the early going.

McQuinn and senior defenseman/assistant captain Joe Malone were selected to the All-Tournament Team.

****On a personal note, the corner would like to express its sincere thanks to Mr. Brian McQuinn, who kept us posted all weekend with his colorful play by play and keen insight. Brian was selected as the corner's MVP from Meadville.
