The corner sends out its congratulations to one of the mainstays on the ice - senior defenseman and assistant captain Joe Malone.

Joe's play during last weekend's 17th annual Meadville (Pa.) Bulldog Hockey Invitational garnered him Player of the Week recognition from The Plain Dealer.

As the corner reported in its Sunday evening recap of the 4-2 victory over St. Edward in the Meadville championship game, Joe's play at both ends of the DeArment Ice Arena earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team.

The Ice Cats (21-4-3), ranked No. 1 in the coaches' state poll, will travel to Gilmour Academy on Friday night for a 7:50 faceoff with the Lancers and on Saturday afternoon Coach Pat O'Rourke's team travels to the tradition-rich atmosphere of the Thornton Park Ice Arena for a big Greater Cleveland High School Hockey League Red North West match up with Shaker Heights (see the corner's post from Wednesday afternoon). The puck will drop at 4:45 on Saturday.
