In response to some of the corner's faithful readers from around the country, first let me say thank you for the concern you have expressed about Saint Ignatius' standout senior basketball player Alec Papesch.

As we reported in the corner's weekly basketball preview that was posted on Wednesday morning, Alec had an appointment with his doctor today and the news was very good on the broken wrist he suffered on Jan. 19.

While attending basketball practice on Wednesday, Alec said his wrist is healing perfectly and that his doctor is very optimistic. Alec is now wearing a soft cast and will meet with his doctor again on Feb. 27 for a re-evaluation.

Let me emphasize that Alec, an outstanding young man, is also very appreciative of the concern all of you and other Wildcats fans have expressed.

In case you missed the corner's story in early December, "Pappy," as Alec is known to his teammates and coaches, will be furthering his education and basketball career at New York University.

Again, Thank You - Eddie.
