Brooklyn, Ohio - Yes my friends, it's down to the real nitty gritty in high school hockey as the top four seeds at the Brooklyn District will be playing for a spot in the OHSAA state final four beginning Tuesday night, when Coach Pat O'Rourke's top-seeded Wildcats (29-5-3) face the high flying forwards from fourth-seeded Rocky River (25-7-1) in a district semifinal.

The puck will drop at 7 on the ice inside the storied John M. Coyne Recreation Center, which is referred to by the area's veteran hockey fans as "The Big Barn on Memphis." And "The Barn" will be rocking Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.

If Saint Ignatius is successful on Tuesday night, it will return to the Coyne Recreation Center on Saturday for the Brooklyn District Championship Game. The face off on Saturday is 3 p.m.

The Wildcats-Rocky River winner faces the winner of Wednesday's semifinal at Brooklyn between St. Edward, the second seed, and Holy Name, which is seeded third. Wednesday's game is also slated for 7 p.m.

As for the Rocky River Pirates, the focus will be on their forwards and the gifted Eric Sperli, who scored 7 goals in the Pirates' 8-2 quarterfinal victory over Padua. Saint Ignatius' outstanding senior center and captain Miles McQuinn emphasized to this corner that one player is not going to end the Wildcats' season. Miles moved to second on the Ice Cats' all-time scoring list behind Paddy Spellacy '12 by scoring two goals and assisting on a few others in Saturday's 10-0 quarterfinal victory over Elyria Catholic.

Tuesday night will mark the second meeting between the Pirates and the Wildcats this season. In what was a hard-earned victory, Saint Ignatius defeated Rocky River, 4-1, in the opening round of the Baron Cup 1 tournament on Feb. 6 at the John M. Coyne Recreation Center.

If you can't make it to Tuesday's game, the corner will be on hand for game coverage and the thrill-some threesome of Trent Kennedy, Scott Geyman and Sean Reynolds will bring it to you live over the Saint Ignatius Student Broadcasting Network.
