Ohio City – Saint Ignatius’ outstanding senior post Alec Papesch said at basketball practice on Wednesday evening that he had an appointment with his doctor on Wednesday and will be re-evaluated again next week. That rules out any chance of Alec playing in Friday night’s sectional final against John F. Kennedy (see the corner's preview from this afternoon).

Alec, who suffered a broken wrist on January 19, is no longer wearing a soft cast.

ALL OF THE BEST: The corner would again like to express its best wishes to seniors Tommy Zeigler (126 pounds) and Jim Ferritto (113), and junior Anthony McLaughlin (170), as they left Saint Ignatius on Wednesday evening bound for Columbus, where they will compete in the OHSAA Individual State Tournament at Value City Arena.

The Division I individual competition gets underway on Thursday evening with the Championship Preliminaries at 5:45 and the Consolation Round 1 at 8:45.

For a look at the pairings in the weight classes in which Tommy, Jim and Anthony compete, see the corner’s story that was posted on Sunday night.
