Tommy Zeigler and Anthony McLaughlin win their opening matches at state; Jim Ferritto bounces back in consolation round.

Saint Ignatius senior Tommy Zeigler won his first match at the OHSAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament in Columbus on Thursday evening, defeating Bryan DeRuchie of Amherst Steele, 3-2, in the Division I preliminary round of the 126-pound class.

In the 170-pound preliminary round, Wildcats junior Anthony McLaughlin defeated Michael Weber of Loveland, 7-5sv.

And in the 113-pound preliminary round, Saint Ignatius senior Jim Ferritto was defeated by Armando Torres of Elyria, 7-2.

*However, Jim came back during Thursday night's Consolation Round 1 and defeated Alec Logsdon of Lebanon, 6-4.

Thursday's opening session drew an attendance of 11,084.

Friday's Division 1 action in Value City Arena will begin with the quarterfinals at 11:45 a.m. The Division I Consolation Round 2 is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
