Jack Miller's first-place performance in the 3200 helps 'Cats to second place at the Hilliard Davidson Wildcat Premier.

Saint Ignatius' tennis team finished in a tie with Walsh Jesuit for second place at Saturday's St. Edward Invitational. St. John's Jesuit brought home the team title with 42.5 points and the Wildcats and the Warriors each had 26 points. Walsh's Aaron Sandberg defeated Saint Ignatius' Nate Griffin, 6-0, 6-2, for the first-singles title.

TRACK AND FIELD: Led by senior Jack Miller's first-place effort of 9:41.34 in the 3200 meter run, Coach Chuck Kyle's varsity track and field team placed second during Saturday's prestigious Wildcat Premier at Hilliard Davidson High School.

Pickerington North won the team title with 130 points and the Wildcats totaled 105.50 points.

Here is how the 'Cats fared in other events.

Kevin Kavalec was at the top of the list in the shot put relay (52-07) and he and sophomore Corey Griffith were fourth and sixth, respectively, in the discus relay; Rick Shurtleff was ninth in the shot put relay (43.04); Vince Bartram garnered seond place in the 1600 meter run (4:33.30); Pat Politowicz was 4th in the pole vault relay (11-00); Mike Schafer placed ninth in the long jump relay (18-00.75); the 4x1600 meter relay team of Joe Arquillo, Jack Fitzgerald, Tim Trentel and Luke Wagner finished third in a time of 18:54.18; the 4x110 meter shuttle hurdle team of Matt McVey, Jack Ruddy, Chris Melton-Burke and Pat Jeffries placed third at 1:05.44; the 4x800 meter relay team of Luke Wagner, Joe Arquillo, Jack Politowicz and Jack Miller was second in a time of 8:14.57; Matt McVey was 7th in the 110 meter hurdles (16.73); James Norris placed 6th in the 100 meter dash (11.57); the 4x200 meter relay team of Nick Cristescu, Tyler Delhees, Enzo Cannata and Mike Zupan was sixth at 1:35.58; the 4x100 meter relay team of Pat Jeffries, Dan Way, Enzo Cannata and James Norris was fourth in a time of 44.19; Mike Schafer was 9th in the 400 meter dash; the distance medley team of Jeff Foerg, Ryan Napoli, Jon Nemes and Jack Fitzgerald turned in a second-place effort of 11:16.19; Pat Jeffries was fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (40.23); Jacob Maier placed sixth in the 800 meter run (2:04.68); the 800 sprint medley team of Tyler Delhees, Mike Zupan, Nick Cristescu and Ray O'Brien was sixth in a time of 1:43.44; Dan Way was seventh in the 200 meter dash (23.89) and the 4x400 meter team of Pat Jeffries, Vince Bartram, Matt McVey and James Norris took third place in a time of 3:30.95.
