Freshman James Norris helps the Wildcats to the championship of the Miele Invitational.

With standout freshman sprinter James Norris capturing both the 100 and 200 meter dashes and Saint Ignatius making an impressive performance in several other events, the Wildcats of head track coach Chuck Kyle '69 bring home the championship of the annual Miele Invitational at Gilmour Academy on Saturday.

Saint Ignatius had a first-place total of 153 points, Mentor was second with 126 and Olmsted Falls was third with 82 points.

*Congratulations also go out to Coach Pat McManamon's lacrosse team, which moved to 6-0 on the season by defeating the Solon Comets, 8-4, at Solon on Saturday afternoon.

Here is a breakdown on the Wildcats' Miele performances during what was a memorable day for Coach Kyle and his deep and gifted team.

100 meter dash - James Norris, first place, 11:09. Dan Way places fourth in 11:47.

200 meter dash - James Norris, first place 22.73. Enzo Cannata places fourth in 23.58.

3200 meter run - Jack Miller, second place, 9:49.2.

800 meter run - Vince Bartram, first place, 2:02.45. Luke Wagner places third in 2:05.61.

1600 meter run - Luke Wagner, first place, 4:29.12. Jack Fitzgerald places fifth in 4:39.48.

Mike Schafer takes first place in the long jump with an effort of 20-04.50.

Mike Zupan (5-09.00) and Jack Hyland (5-03.00) are third and seventh in the high jump.

Corey Griffith places third in both the shot put and discus. Rick Shurtleff is fifth in the shot put.

The distance medley team of Jon Nemes, Jeff Foerg, Joe Arquillo and Jack Fitzgerald places third in 11:00.31.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Enzo Cannata, Pat Jeffries, Dan Way and Scott Arthrell places second in 44.39.

Matt McVey is third in the 110 meter hurdles at 15.68.

Pat Jeffries (40.99) and Matt McVey (42.60) are second and third in the 300 meter hurdles.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Pat Jeffries, Blake Yoho, Vince Bartram and James Norris captures first place in 3:31.18.

The 4x800 meter relay team of Jack Miller, Joe Arquillo, Jack Politowicz and Vince Bartram places second in 8:11.37.
