Cats Track and Field finishes third at the Gary Smith Invitational.

Coach Chuck Kyle's varsity track and field team finished third during Saturday's annual Gary Smith Invitational at Thomas Worthington High School.

Solon won both the boys (180 points) and girls (170 points) competition, and Watkins Memorial edged Saint Ignatius for second place, 111-110.

And congratulations go out to the lacrosse team, which improved to 10-1 with a 13-4 victory over St. Charles Prep on Wasmer Field Saturday afternoon, and to the Varsity A rugby team, which went 2-0 at Saturday's Midwest Invitational (Moose Rugby Grounds in Indiana), including a 10-8 victory over St. Edward.

James Norris, first place in the 200 meter dash, 22.48.

Kevin Kavalec, first place in the shot put, 57-05.00.

Matt McVey, second in the 110 meter hurdles, 15.45.

Pat Politowicz, second in the pole vault, 13-08.25.

Luke Wagner, second in the 1600 meter run, 4:34.00.

Pat Jeffries, third in the 300 meter hurdles, 40.14.

Joe Arquillo, fourth in the 800 meter run, 2:00.58.

Mike Zupan, fourth in the high jump, 6-02.00.

Corey Griffith, fourth in the discus, 139-10.

A second place in the 4x100 meter relay, 43.45 - Mike Zupan, Pat Jeffries, Dan Way and James Norris.

A second place in the 4x1600 meter relay, 19:01.29 - Sean Sovacool, John Nemes, Tim Trentel, Tom Sullivan.

A second place in the 4x800 meter relay, 8:05.91 - Luke Wagner, Jake Maier, Jack Fitzgerald and Joe Arquillo.

A fourth place in 4x200 meter relay, 1:33.66 - Quin Lawless, Nick Cristescu, Ray O'Brien and Mike Schafer.
