The Plain Dealer's outstanding NFL reporter Mary Kay Cabot is reporting that a league source has told her the Browns have signed former Saint Ignatius and Michigan State standout quarterback Brian Hoyer '04 to a two-year contract.

Brian, who spent the majority of his NFL career as a backup to perennial All-Pro Tom Brady in New England, was recently released by the Arizona Cardinals. Who said you can never go home again?

Congratulations to Brian and his family from the corner!

Speaking of the Hoyer family, Matt Hoyer '12, a former Wildcat quarterback and baseball pitcher, will be attending the University of Akron after completing a year at Mercyhurst. Matt said he plans to walk on for the Zips' football program and might also give the Akron baseball program a try. Matt was Saint Ignatius' Most Valuable Pitcher in the spring of 2012.
