HOW THEY SAW IT:

Jack Miller, Wildcats cross country and track standout: "Coach Kyle likes the philosophy of racing. It is not about times, it's about going out there and racing. I'm really excited to see what the team (the district champion and regional qualifying 4x800) can do. We looked really good today and I can't wait to see us when we're being pushed. Because I know we'll come out on top."

Mike Schafer on his long jump: "I felt really good, it was my best jump (20-06.50) of the season. The first two jumps, the wind got me a little bit. But the third one was perfect. The wind settled down, I felt really good, my legs were loose and I just hit full speed." Mike pointed out that he placed second to Ohio's defending indoor state champion, Antwon Smith of Cleveland John F. Kennedy, who jumped 21-10.00.

Coach Kyle's Mr. Versatility, Pat Jeffries: "I thought the 110s (hurdles) went smoothly. The wind was kind of a killer, but it happens. Everybody had to go through the wind. Second seed, I was pretty happy with that. Not a PR, but we'll see what Friday brings. In the 300s, my heat was a little on the cruise control side. I just wanted to get through to Friday. I wanted to get through the motions of this track (Lakewood Stadium) and see how it feels. I haven't been here in a year. It was like how are my steps going to go on the turn, which I was really worried about. I got four more (races) on Friday, so I wanted to keep my legs a little bit intact."
