Brooklyn, Ohio - Eastern Christian Academy is from Elkton, Maryland and the verbal agreement has the game being played on Oct. 12 (Week 7) in Parma's Byers Field. Pending the signing of the contract, it will be an afternoon game, possibly at 2 or 2:30.

Led by quarterback David Sills V, Eastern Christian Academy emerged on the national high school football scene just last year. Sills took the national stage when he committed to the USC Trojans in February of 2010 - as a seventh grader! For a look at how Eastern Christian Academy came into existence, check out the stories by the outstanding writer Lee Jenkins (Aug. 23, 2012 on SI.Com) and the gifted Jon Buzby (Mar. 23, 2012 on MaxPreps.com).

****Also, St. Edward High School posted on its football web site today that what we have been projecting on the corner for weeks is now a reality - the Saint Ignatius at St. Edward game being moved from Week 10 to Week 8.

According to the Eagles' schedule, the game is now Oct. 19 in Lakewood First Federal Stadium. St. Edward also had Weeks 7 and 8 open, and no coach wants two open dates in a row. The official word on the game being moved up two weeks had to come from St. Edward, and rightfully so, because it is the Eagles' home game.

What this means for the Wildcats is that pending the signing of the contract with Eastern Christian Academy Coach Chuck Kyle's team will have just one open date - Week 10.

I have said it on this corner before and I will say it again, a big tip of the cap goes out to Saint Ignatius Athletics Director Rory Fitzpatrick '88 for the endless work he has done with the 'Cats' 2013 schedule. Especially when you consider the regular season is just over two months away. Of course Rory has also been directly involved in the discussion with St. Edward on moving the storied rivalry to Week 8 this fall.

This old-timer would like to say Thank You to the Eagles' tireless Athletic Director Paul Michalko, Head Football Coach Rick Finotti and the entire administration at St. Edward for their huge role in the change of schedule agreement. Again, it is the Eagles' home game this year and will now be played on Oct. 19 (Week 8) in Lakewood First Federal Stadium.
