Congratulations from the corner go out to Saint Ignatius' Brad Ganor, who has been selected by The Plain Dealer as its Coach of the Year on the seven-county All-Star Baseball Team. The team was officially released late Friday afternoon.

The corner also congratulates three-year varsity mainstay and Illinois recruit Dan Rowbottom '13 and standout left-handed pitcher Nick Margevicius '14, who received Special Mention from The PD. Dan was a standout hitter and middle infielder and also served as one of Saint Ignatius' captains this past spring. Nick, who was Mr. Reliable during the tremendous run to Columbus, has been selected as one of the captains for 2014.

Coach Ganor completed his ninth season as the Wildcats' skipper by guiding his team to a 27-7 record and a Division I state runner-up finish. The 'Cats advanced to the title game match up with eventual state champion Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller by winning 22 of 23 games, including 13 consecutive triumphs.

Saint Ignatius has made four state final four appearances under Coach Ganor, including a school-best three in a row in 2007, '08 and '09. Coach Ganor's 2008 team was also a state runner-up. Brad, who took over as the Wildcats' head coach in 2005, was an assistant on Coach Brian Morgan's 2002 Division I state championship team, 2000 state runner-up team and 2004 state-semifinalist club.

Coach Ganor, who is the Director of Saint Ignatius' Walton Center for Learning, will enter his 10th season in Ohio City with 203 career victories.

Again, congrats to Brad, Dan and Nick, and the entire Saint Ignatius baseball program.
